This weekend saw the return of the 2019 British Touring Car Championship after the summer break, held at Snetterton for rounds 16/17/18 of this year’s series.
Saturdays qualifying session saw Chilton secure a second-row start claiming P4 after a superb performance, with Ollie securing a credible P12 and Nic following in P22.
The opening race saw Tom straight off the blocks and gaining momentum in his mountune-powered Ford Focus #3 RS, however an unfortunate puncture on lap 5 saw him collide with the barriers, ending his first run of the day. An outstanding drive from Ollie who was hungry to make the top 10 made it happen by cutting through the pack to to cross the line in P8 and Nic did well to maintain his starting position, taking P22 at the flag.
Race 2 was another mixed bag. Tom had it hard from the go having to work his way up from the back of the grid but made it up to finish in P17. Nic also made progress, coming in at P20 but round 17 was one Ollie won't forget in a hurry as he took his maiden podium of the year and an Independent win!
The final race of the day again saw the team make progress with Tom charging through the pack and bringing it home in P13, Nic securing his highest placed finish so far this season in P18, and Ollie rounding off the day with a hat-trick of top 10 finishes in P9.
After lessons learned and points gained this weekend, Chilton currently sits in 10th in the championship table and 4th in the Indy Drivers, with Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Gallagher sitting in 3rd in the Indy Teams.
The BTCC is back in two weeks time when they head back to Thruxton on the 17th-18th August.
