Focus RS / ST Roll Restrictor - Fully Fitted at mountune HQ


The mountune Focus Roll Restrictor reduces the amount of engine roll / movement during hard acceleration and changing gear, plus helps reduce 'wheel-hop', particularly when the power output has been increased.

With a product such as this, care must be taken with the design and choice of materials, as a poor design can destroy the feel and driving experience of the car.

With an extensive background working in the OEM market, mountune have the knowledge and engineering expertise to create a product which can reduce the engine movement by the desired amount, but with minimal effect to the NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) level.

The mountune Focus roll restrictor is machined from high quality HE30 aluminium, and features a unique size and shore hardness polyurethane bush.

The bonus of using polyurethane is that not only has it been engineered to give increased stiffness without causing excessive vibrations, it also doesn’t deteriorate like rubber does, so the service life of the component is greatly increased.

Stop your whhel hop

I had this fitted at the same time as the MR275 and Billet Short-Shift Arm. The result was excellent and it completely killed the wheel hop issue with the Focus ST. It has other benefits with changing gears etc but the fact it stopped the wheel hop completely was a fantastic result for me. I have read people complain about the extra vibration but it's minimal and most people complaining fitted it themselves and I think they might not have done it 100% correctly. It does have a pulse that vibrates through the pedals and steering wheel which I don't mind. You will only get this when sat idle (i.e. at traffic lights) and it can be stopped by either letting the stop/start stop the engine or just feather the accelerator up to 900-1000 revs while sitting idle, though as I said it doesn't bother me at all.

Mk2 St Roll Restrictor

I had this fitted today at Mountune Hq as I was down for some other bits, immediately felt the difference in the car. When pulling away there is noticeably less movement of the engine, or under load when changing gears. There is slightly more vibration through the pedals I think, but tbh it's very minor and in no way bone rattling :). Definitely worth doing if you think your gearbox engine mount has seen better days. As always awesome service by the folks at Mountune!
