Brexit - European Customers, what you need to know

On 1st January 2021 the UK exited the European Union, known as Brexit.

European customers may be impacted by these events, so to ensure you know what this means to you, please see the details below.

As mountune is established in the United Kingdom, our store shows prices both excluding VAT (what you will pay after 1st January 2021) and including VAT at our designated rate of 20% (what customers in the UK pay).

European customers

For new orders placed after 1st January 2021

Any orders placed after the 1st do not need to pay UK VAT and will have been charged the correct amount excluding VAT. You will be responsible for paying your local import VAT and any applicable duty - see 'Import VAT' below.

A small number of orders may have been charged with VAT during the initial transition period, but you will receive a refund equivalent to the portion of VAT paid if this is applicable to you.

For orders placed before 1st January 2021 but dispatched after 1st January 2021

Any orders placed prior to the 1st of January 2021 that either have been, or will be dispatched after this time would've been charged UK VAT as this transaction occurred prior to the Brexit deal being in place. We will endeavour to ensure customers that should not now be charged VAT avoid having to pay this and is an exercise that we are currently working on.

We will contact any customers affected directly.

Import VAT

For all orders shipped after 1st January 2021, you will now be required to pay local VAT (Taxes) on the value of your order, before it will be released to you.

The exact process depends on the courier being used, but typically you will either be presented with an invoice to pay before the goods are released, or an invoice will be sent to you to pay after the goods have been delivered.

If you do not pay this duty, your order may be withheld or returned to us and you will be liable for any shipping costs incurred.

Customs Duty

The UK trade agreement with the EU means that duty tariffs are not applicable on products that meet certain requirements.

At this time we believe this to cover performance parts listed on our store, but will update this position as more information becomes available.

Delivering to the EU

As additional paperwork is now required by the sender and the courier on all orders to EU countries, processing and shipping times are anticipated to take longer than prior to the 1st January 2021.

Orders are still shipped using our same trusted courier network and you will receive full tracking information as before.

Customers in Northern Ireland

VAT remains unaffected as part of the Brexit process and we do not foresee any  immediate change to pricing or the way orders are shipped for customers in Northern Ireland.

This page will be updated as any further clarification or changes to these new arrangements occur - Last updated 14.01.21.
