Downpipe / Sports Cat

The mountune Downpipe / Sports Cat has been engineered to reduce exhaust back-pressure at the turbocharger allowing faster response and additional power.

Features include a large diameter (5”) motorsport type, 200 cell count metal substrate honeycomb catalyst to ensure effective, ultra high flow performance in extreme environments.

A large catalyst cross section means increased exhaust flow compared to other smaller catalyst equipped down pipes on the market.

Constructed of 3” primary AISI 304 Stainless Steel mandrel bent tubing with a CNC machined flange that allows easy installation, whilst robust factory type mounting brackets and hangers are utilised to maintain perfect alignment and OE like fitment.

Also incorporated is a 6” stainless steel flexi section to help absorb shock, prevent OE hanger failure, and a reduced the chance of false knock signals causing engine power reduction.

Revised engine calibration will be required for optimal performance and may emit the EML without it.

Features:

  • Large diameter motorsport type, high flow 200 cell count catalyst
  • 3” AISI 304 mandrel bent Stainless Steel tube with 2.5" flanged exit
  • Robust OE type mounting bracket
  • 6” Stainless Steel flexi joint
  • TIG Welded construction
  • 2 year limited warranty*

Recommended to fit in conjunction with mk7 Fiesta ST Cat Back Exhaust.

      Downpipe/sports act.

I already have the Cat Back Exaust so I thought I would get the Downpipe Sports Cat and MP 215 power upgrade which will be fitted by my Ford Garage. I did enquire about the MR 230 but got no answer back?. Every thing I have bought from Mountune has been very well packed and very quick delivery. Many Thanks.

Here is something you might not know. The Mountune Downpipe weights 5.2Kgs and the factory original weighs 4.2Kgs. So you are adding 1Kg to your car when you fit this. For me I barely noticed any difference in the noise. I have the factory cat back system and I don’t feel any need to change it (its stainless steel). When you stand behind the tailpipe it sounds a little deeper and louder. Its good. When driving with the windows down I can barely tell any difference. With windows up on full throttle its slightly meaner sounding. On my stage 1 tune there is maybe a slight increase in Torque and power but you are left questioning if its really there or you are just imagining it. On my standard tune I feel that there is no noticeable difference. So this is my conclusion: If you are running a standard or stage 1 tune try really really hard to resist the irresistible temptation to buy it. You really don’t need it. The stage 1 tune makes far and away more difference to power than the downpipe. If you are going to stage 2 tune then yes why not. But I don’t think its absolutely necessary. If you are going big turbo then definitely yes it would be worth it. I don’t know but mine must have been delivered from somewhere within Australia because I didn’t get extorted by the government mafia for GST, import duty, customs clearance fees and credit card fees to pay the fees. Which was great.

By comparison the Mountune version is a thing of beauty and doubtless an upgrade and effective at its job.
